Review 2022 – Dryflow® Turboforce® Hand Dryer

Review 2022 – Dryflow® Turboforce® Hand Dryer

Dryflow Turboforce

The Turboforce is one of the UK’s most popular hand dryers, it can be found up and down the country from the Tower of London, KFC, Harry Ramsdens, Natwest, Santander, Nissan, Lords Cricket Ground to the English Institute of Sport. The Turboforce is available in brushed satin, polished chrome, and white. It has been on the market for a decade now so does it retain it’s top billing in 2021?

For pure performance, the Turboforce is still one of the best dryers around, great for high footfall, short burst locations like stadiums, gig venues, and vandal prone areas. A good all-round dryer, except in areas where low noise is really important. It scores well on all the main criteria and remains reasonably priced.

In the same price bracket, models like the G-Force Mark II have recently added features like HEPA filters , ionisers, and plug-in systems which give them a slight edge, but we have no hesitation in recommending the Turboforce.

The Dryflow Turboforce - Value

At between £283 and £299 + vat, this is a mid-priced hand dryer with a high build quality. This is less than half the price of the Dyson V, £50-70 less than the Airforce and Mitsubishi SMART so it definitely represents excellent value.

The Dryflow Turboforce - Speed

At 12 seconds it is still one of the fastest ‘hands under’ dryers available. It is as fast as either of the Dyson ‘hands under’ models and is in the top 3-4 dryers on the market for pure speed.

The Dryflow Turboforce - Efficiency

Calculating the energy efficiency of a dryer depends on 2 things, rated power and the dry speed.

The rated power of the Turboforce ranges from 0.35 kW to 1.6 kW, which means each dry consumes between 2.33 and 5.33 W/hours per dry and 2142 dries possible per £1 spent on electricity compared to 143 dries per £1 spent on paper towels, a 95.7 to 98% saving against paper towels.

Traditional dryers will use 25-30 watt/hours per dry.

The Dryflow Turboforce - Quiet operation

The Turboforce has an adjustable speed motor so offers a range of noise outputs from 77 to 84 dB(A) from 1 meter. This is one of the louder dryers on full speed but this can be moderated where it is a problem to a tolerable level.

The Dryflow Turboforce  - Vandal resistance

With heavy-duty casing and steel backplate, this dryer has been located in football stadiums and vandal prone areas and stood up well for years.

The Dryflow Turboforce - Life expectancy

The Turboforce has a brushed motor so requires motor servicing every 1000 hours in operation or 300,000 uses, with a motor-life of 900,000. It is a well-made product made by one of the world’s most respected factories. The 5-year guarantee provides the extra peace of mind you need.

The Dryflow Turboforce and the environment

We conducted a cradle to grave carbon footprint assessment of the Turboforce using Climate Partners software and the embedded carbon in production, transport and disposal was 35 Kg/CO2. We are looking at re-using backplates in future to reduce this amount where possible.
