Which PHS Warner Howard hand dryer should I choose?
This section is going to focus on the PHS Warner Howard Airstream range as they are the newest additions to the range and surpass the performance of older, legacy products.
All the PHS Warner Howard Airstream hand dryers below are available in nickel, black or white finish. They share a common design but have different specifications to meet the requirements of different environments. As they all look so similar it can be hard to understand the difference between them, which is why we have prepared a simple explanation of the differences below.
Entry level hand dryers
EL1100 – This is an excellent budget priced option. It’s genuinely quick with a 16 second dry time (tested to Carbon Trust ETL criteria), is super compact and looks excellent. This unit has a heater element giving an instant warm airflow. We recommend this PHS hand dryer for low-traffic locations like small offices, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It's durable but really lightweight which makes it quick to install. However, it isn’t the quietest so just check it's suitable for the majority of your building’s users.
EL600 – This model is exactly the same as the EL100 in appearance but has no heater element therefore lower energy consumption. It takes a little longer to dry as a result but the noise level is slightly reduced. Choose this model if low noise and lower running costs are your priority. Again, recommended for low traffic locations.
Mid-range hand dryers
MR1100 – The warm air one, the MR1100 matches the power consumption of the Airforce yet has improved features. It continues to have the same ingress protection of IP24 and anti-microbial coating but has faster drying, lower noise, double the motor life, a heated airflow, a longer guarantee and an air filter. A Click-on design ensures easy installation and maintenance. The back plate and electrical fittings can be installed separately to the dryer, allowing for the dryer body to be fitted at a later date by a non-electrically qualified person. This makes installation and maintenance easier. A good option to ensure that you have no call out costs for electricians in future, should the machine break down.
MR600 – The low energy one. This also has a click-on system but offers even lower energy consumption as it has no heater element. This means you get around 1000 more dries per £1 spent on electricity than the Airforce yet all the improvements of the MR1100.
Airstream hand dryers range
Airstream Vitesse – The fastest drying one! If you have a higher budget and want something that dries at breakneck speeds and will cope with heavier traffic, look no further than this model. Ultra-rapid airflow from a large ‘blade’ outlet strips water in 11.2 seconds (Tested to Carbon Trust ETL criteria). One of the quickest dryers out there and is energy efficient as you would expect. A major drawback is that it’s quite noisy, so not ideal for younger users. Like the MR1100 and the MR600 it has a click-on design which ensures easy installation and maintenance.
Airstream Pure – Fastest drying with 2 HEPA filters! This is the same design and performance as the Vitesse with the addition of 2 HEPA filters which makes it perfect for those locations that require extra levels of hygiene. This model has been tested against and approved to the standard of the NSF335 hygiene protocol originally developed for the Dyson Airblade.
Airstream Whisper – The low noise one! Looks the same as the Vitesse and Pure, with the same click-on system, but as the name implies is much quieter. It sacrifices on speed but that’s needed in primary schools, nurseries, libraries etc. and includes a heater element for an instant warm airflow. It is accredited with the Quiet Mark, making it one of the quietest in its class.
