Review 2022 – Dryflow® G-Force MKII Hand Dryer

Review 2022 – Dryflow® G-Force MKII Hand Dryer

The Dryflow® G-Force Mark II hand dryer launched 4 years ago in the UK as the first plug-in system. This means that once installed, you don’t have to touch any wires to remove it from the wall. This has the obvious advantage that no electrician is needed if the hand dryer ever needs replacing and faults can be dealt with in seconds. The dryer incorporates a HEPA filter and adjustable speed motor. It is available in a White (GFM201), Black (GFM204), Brushed Satin (GFM202), or Polished Chrome (GFM203) finish. G-Force Mark II Hand Dryer

The G-Force Mark II hand dryer is available from as little as £255 +VAT and we think it represents fantastic value. You will see below that it rates really well on every performance criterion. It scores better than the majority of the more expensive dryers on the market and outperforms every dryer in the same price bracket.

Dry Speed

We recorded a consistent 11-12 seconds for a thorough dry, making it one of the quickest hand dryers on the market . To put this into perspective the Dyson Airblade V achieved 12 seconds, the Dyson Airblade AB14 10 seconds, and the Warner Howard Airforce 20+ seconds in our stringent tests.

Energy Efficiency

Calculating the energy efficiency of a dryer depends on 2 things, rated power and the dry speed.

The G-Force Mark II functions on full power with heat at 1.5kw, you can remove the heat without having much of an effect on the dry speed (1-second reduction), it then operates at 1.1kw rated power. There is also an eco/quiet setting at just 0.42kw. The consumption per dry is 2.68 – 5.24 watt/hours. To put this into context, the Dyson Airblade AB14 uses 4.44 watts per dry, a traditional uses 20-30 watts per dry and the best available uses 1.9 watt/hours.

2857 dries possible per £1 spent on electricity compared to 143 dries per £1 spent on paper towels, this is a 95.8 – 97.9% saving against paper towels.

Quiet Operation

The G-Force Mark II has a fully adjustable motor speed and the manufacturer states a range between 67 dB(A) and 74 dB(A) at 2 metres, so from 1 metre you would expect a 10 dB(A) increase. In reality, we found the max setting was about 85 DB(A) which is quite loud however the min setting was only around 72 dB(A) which is really not bad at all. The 2.5 out of 5 is reflective of the fact the dryer offers flexibility.

Vandal Resistance

A really solid, well-made dryer, you would need to really mean it to do any damage to this dryer.

Life Expectancy

The G-Force Mark II has a brushed motor which will require the brushes changing at around 1500 hours or 450,000 cycles and should last another 450,000 cycles after this. 3.5 out of 5 is probably a bit conservative and the reduced mark is down to the fact that a lot of people don’t maintain their dryers, which is the reason we tend to score brushless motors higher. It is built in Europe and has a high build quality. Covered by a 3-year warranty.

Environment

We estimate the embedded carbon in the G-Force Mark II to be around 30.9kg/co2, which is about mid-range for a dryer. However, work is being done with the manufacturer to reuse non-mechanical components stripped out of old dryers that pass quality control. This could considerably lower the footprint of this dryer in the future.

At about 2100 uses, the embedded carbon and energy in use will have been overtaken by the emissions created from the equivalent number of dries with paper towels.

When you consider the lifespan could be up to 900,000 cycles, the lifetime emissions savings will be huge!

Conclusion

A fantastic all-round product. It is not an expensive hand dryer but offers the quality of a premium product and the promise of long life and reliability. It is adaptable to all locations where quiet or greater speed is needed, it’s highly energy efficient and low-cost to run. The plug-in system is of huge benefit to buildings managers and reduces long-term costs.

Quite simply whether in a low or high traffic location the G-Force Mark II is among the very best on the market.
