The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Value

At only £269 + VAT this is one of the lowest-price, ‘hands in’ hand dryers on the UK market. The price puts it on a par with most mid-range ‘hands under’ dryers and makes it a whopping £550 less than a Dyson Airblade and £325 less than a Mitsubishi Jet Towel. Ok, so it’s not up to the same standard as these branded hand dryers, and there is certainly an argument that its worth paying an extra £75 for an entry-level brushless-motor dryer like the Jetforce Pro that has a longer-life motor, but overall you will see from the performance outlined in the rest of the review, it certainly represents good value for money.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Speed

The manufacturer states 10 seconds however our stringent testing showed it delivered a consistent 14 second dry time. We would say most customers lose interest at about 20 seconds so 14 seconds is more than satisfactory. This is faster than the majority of hand dryers we test and only a few seconds slower than the very fastest.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Efficiency

Calculating the energy efficiency of a dryer depends on 2 things, rated power and the dry speed. 

The Jetforce Junior has a rated power between 0.75kw unheated and 1.85kw heated. We are maybe a little generous with the scoring here, it is based on operating the dryer on the eco 0.75kw rated mode. The energy consumption per dry is between 2.92 and 7.19 Wh per dry. The lower score being really good for any modern eco dry, the higher score being at the upper range for a modern dryer. To give some perspective. The Dyson Airblade AB14 uses 4.44 watts per dry, a traditional uses 20-30 watts per dry and the best available uses 1.9 watt/hours. 

1090 dries possible per £1 spent on electricity compared to 143 dries per £1 spent on paper towels, a 94 – 97.7% saving against paper towels.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Quiet operation

The Jetforce has two speed settings and the manufacturer states a range between 70 dB(A) and 75 dB(A) which is really pretty quiet for a high-speed dryer. We found the noise level only increases 5 dB(A) when in use so it’s noise level is acceptable for all but the most noise sensitive locations.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Vandal resistance

We don’t tend to recommend this style of dryer for vandal prone areas, there is too much to grab hold of and they are more of a target than compact dryers for idiots to try and abuse. Its not as solid as the Dyson AB14 but similar to most dryers in this category. Not one for pubs, nightclubs or schools that experience regular vandalism.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Life expectancy

It’s a budget dryer so don’t put Jet Force Juniors in locations where they are going to get constant, heavy use. With a motor that is expected to last 257,000 uses, if you site them appropriately they can be expected to last many years. Horses for courses essentially. Warranty for 2-years.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior and the environment

We estimate the embedded carbon in the Jetforce Junior to be around 45.7kg/co2. This is on the low side for a ‘hands in’ hand dryer because they are lightweight. To put it into perspective, it is similar to driving a normal petrol car about 90-100 miles. 

 This is why it’s always worth considering whether you need a larger ‘hands in’ blade unit like this, when a compact hand dryer may do a similar job. For example, the Turboforce Junior takes only 2 seconds longer to dry than the Jetforce Junior and has similar performance credentials in every respect, but it has only 18kg/co2 embedded in its raw materials, production and transport. All Dryflow products have their carbon footprint measured and are offset by Climate Partner but offsetting is not the answer. We must buy products fit for purpose with the minimal initial impact.

The Dryflow Jet Force Junior - Conclusion

If you like ‘hands in’ blade style dryers and have a low traffic washroom where usage will be around 100 or less dries a day, then this could be the dryer for you. The dry time is very good, the noise output is reasonably low and its exceptional well-priced. As with all dryers of this style, we don’t think this dryer is great where vandalism is likely and we urge you to consider whether you need a dryer of this size given the additional carbon footprint vs a smaller more compact dryer. 

Overall, if you want a ‘hands in’ blade dryer, you don’t have a big budget and wish to keep your floors dry, this is an excellent choice. I would mainly recommend for workplaces rather than busy public areas.
