Review 2022 – Dryflow® Viper HEPA Hand Dryer

Review 2022 – Dryflow® Viper HEPA Hand Dryer

The Viper has been available on the UK market for 4 years now and is often positioned as an affordable alternative to the Dyson V, utilising a similar, angled dual-blade airflow technology. It is available in a brushed steel or white version. So how well does it stack up against leading brands?

The Viper is a decent alternative to the Dyson V . It’s a solid bit of kit. As long as you don’t fit them in mega busy locations, it will give many years of service. Overall, it’s pretty fast (15 secs), energy-efficient on eco-settings and has the flexibility to reduce noise down from an already tolerable level.

The only negative is that when the heat switch is turned on, it is a little energy-hungry, it could benefit from a more efficient heater element.

A great mid-priced dryer for schools, pubs, and places where a bit of misuse and abuse may occur.

From £229 + VAT

At £229 + VAT this is firmly a mid-priced dryer and it does represent decent value. It is less than half the price of the Dyson V and you are still getting fast, energy-efficient, HEPA filtered air to dry your hands .

The Viper doesn’t make it to the top table for dry speed but never the less, achieving 15 seconds in our stringent tests is a very good result. This makes it only 3 seconds slower than the Dyson V and faster than the majority of high-speed units on the market today.

Calculating the energy-efficiency of a dryer depends on 2 things, rated power and the dry speed.

The Viper has a rated power range between 0.6kw on unheated, eco speed mode to 2kw on full speed, heated airflow mode. It has a per dry consumption range between 2.5 to 8.3 watt/hours. The Viper is at its most efficient when using unheated airflow and max speed. So essentially this dryer is capable of being one of the most efficient products on the market but is also at the high end of consumption for a modern dryer, hence the score of 3. Set it up correctly and efficiency could move to a 4.5/5 score.

At its most efficient 2000 dries possible per £1 spent on electricity compared to 143 dries per £1 spent on paper towels , a 98% saving against paper towels.

The manufacturer states this dryer is 70 dB(A) on eco mode and 74 dB(A) on maximum speed and we found this range to be accurate. Quiet Mark have also approved it as one of the quietest hand dryers in class.

A heavy-duty pit of kit, definitely suitable for harsher locations.

The motor life is 1500 hours and this would be expected to deliver 360,000 hours. That makes the dryers suitable for locations in the Mid (100-300 uses) a day range. We would recommend this more for areas at the lower end of that scale to achieve a really satisfactory lifespan. It’s backed by a 3-year warranty.

We have been working with the manufacturer to eliminate polystyrene in packaging and our latest deliveries are now coming in with zero plastic packaging. The carbon footprint of the product is approximately 33.6 kg/co2
