We have decided to start featuring some of our wonderful customers in our blog.
This week we feature the multi-award-winning Night Owl Club and Restaurant in Digbeth, Birmingham and now Finsbury Park, London. We supplied both Night Owl locations with Jetforce PRO Hand Dryers and Alcohol Gel Dispensers.
Arith Liyanage, the Director and Founder explains the ethos of his Nightclubs and why he chose Intelligent Hand Dryers .
‘We are dedicated to providing a great experience to everyone who walks through our doors, from the friendly welcome our team give to the great live acts, DJs and music we serve up, to the award-winning food and drink we provide. Since the pandemic began, we have been committed to delivering a safe and hygienic experience to our customers. Making sure our washrooms have the latest equipment is important for reinforcing that message. We chose the
Dryflow Jetforce PRO
hand dryer because they were fast but quiet, all the water drained nicely without getting onto the floors or walls and were also fitted with HEPA filters to enhance hygiene and keep our customers safe. I was pleased to get the same length of guarantee as a
Dyson Airblade
without paying anywhere near the price tag’
Award-winning Club
The Night Owl opened its doors in 2015 and has become known all around Birmingham as the go-to place for soul and retro music, having won Best New Club in the Birmingham Mail Awards and in 2019 Best Club Night for Le Freak (Birmingham Music Awards), not to mention ‘Birmingham’s Best Cocktail’ (Independent Birmingham). The recognition continued throughout the pandemic, largely due to the Night Owl’s focus on providing a safe yet enjoyable experience throughout the restrictions. As such it was shortlisted for the 2021 Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Awards, in the Excellence in Hospitality & Retail Category. The Night Owl has recently been featured on Channel 5 New with Arith Liyanage, talking about how seriously they take customer safety in the wake of drink-spiking incidents, the team are fully trained to spot dangers and there are lots of visual guides at the bar reminding people what to look out for and how to get help. It is clear why the Night Owl has been such a success, it cares and listens to its customers, treating everyone who comes through the door. It’s about creating a community of music-loving, fun-seekers in a safe and comfortable environment.
Arith has big ambitions
‘We will have a local venue serving every major city centre across the UK by 2030
‘.
“We want to be the ‘go to’ local venue in the UK for all ages to enjoy good people dancing to great music”
Reviving Nothern Soul
Inspired by the Northern Soul song of the same name by Bobby Paris, The Night Owl Birmingham was the first-ever purpose-built Northern Soul and Motown club.
The love of Northern Soul remains strong among different age groups and the club has gone from strength to strength, expanding its music genres to include retro genres spanning the generations (as well as record collections!) Soul is and always will be The Night Owl’s passion, but punters can expect Motown, ska, funk, disco, garage, psychedelia, rock and roll, Britpop, indie, punk and more coming from tribute and live bands and specialist DJs every week, both in the day and night.
Community and Supporting Independents
The Night Owl team recently launched its newest event, ‘Come As You Are’ in partnership with QAC Community Services. ‘Come As You Are’ is an inclusive club night of neurodiversity, autism, and other support needs. Arith, said ‘ this is one of the reasons the hand dryers could not be too loud, we need to make sure our facilities are inclusive for all!’
They also have a great roster of club nights hosted by themselves and independent promoters such as Selextorhood’s Global Rotations, Groove Line, The Payback and the award-winning Le Freak.
Established Acts too!
The Night Owl is an esteemed live music venue who have been very fortunate to host established acts such as The 5.6.7.8’s, The Blow Monkeys and Corduroy as well as local and upcoming artists from across the country, covering a variety of genres such as soul, mod, Motown, funk, jazz, indie, psychedelic rock and Northern soul.
They pride themselves on their extremely popular themed nights such as a Stranger Things party, Bowie’s Birthday Party and our most recent Dark Labyrinth night.
London Opening
The New Night Owl in London is on the site of legendary music venue ‘The Silver Bullet’, The Night Owl opened in July 2021 offering a variety of live music events, brunches and club nights in the heart of Finsbury Park.
Following in the footsteps of the first Night Owl venue in Birmingham, The Night Owl is a fantastic, independent venue which boasts a bustling nightlife scene, irresistible happy hour deals and its own unique charm and personality.
Having hosted big names such as 60’s soul legends The Flirtations, Primal Scream & Soho Radio’s Simone Butler, Ska royalty Rhoda Daka, lots of fresh upcoming talent plus a range of quality tribute acts. The Night Owl is set to stay and build a loyal following of fun-seekers in the capital.
You are being judged by the standards of your washrooms ??
Do you own a nightclub, restaurant or bar? Are your bathrooms up to scratch? Or are they putting customers off and projecting a bad image? In 2018 we carried out research that showed 9/10 people would feel uncomfortably eating in a location which had poor bathroom standards, the general feeling was ‘what is the kitchen like if the bathrooms are this bad’.
